Botany has always been the forte of Dr. Sharma who pursued her Ph.D. in the specialization of Botany. She carried her extensive research in the fields of mycoflora, microbiology, biodeterioration, respective fungal related studies as well as studies related to plant diseases and conservation. Being Head of the department of Botany from more than 35 years, Dr. Sharma has surpassed countless expertise levels in the fields of Botanical researches.

Ranging from Botany to Remote Sensing, Dr. Sharma has a broad spectrum of research interests. With paramount contributions to the fields of botany related studies, she has achieved high excellence in the fields of remote sensing and GIS. Environmental monitoring and management has been her specialized field. Evaluation of different indices like vegetation, water, urban and also techniques like change detection and land surface temperature analysis are some domains that Dr. Sharma has worked upon. Furthermore, to expand her domains, she has also gained knowledge in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Eco-Housing.

Remote Sensing is an evolving and spotlighted field of applied science. Dr. Sharma holds strong knowledge in applied remote sensing in the domains of environmental monitoring, conservation, surveying and management through optical satellite remote sensing. Additionally, she holds grip on GIS-based mapping and LULC analysis.
